Alone
In the mist of the night I walk alone
My happy day is gone,
for I must be left alone.
Drenched in fear,
I slowly walk through the darkness
begging my heart to stay at a steady pace.
I see no one,
I hear the swift sound of a blade,
called out by its master to do its bidding.
I hear the crickets scream even louder,
and so does the beating drum inside of me.
Terrified as I may be, I stay strong.
My shadow wants to run,
instead I walk as my hunter does the same.
I hear the breath of another soul,
I see the leaves sway as if a great wind has past,
I slide my hand down the blade
that once belonged to my father.
I must keep the ancient key safe,
by taking it where no evil lurks.
Midnight past long ago,
soon the light will shine upon me.
Morning shall not come for my enemy,
my fathers blade is driven in his chest.
Like a delicate swan he falls.
Once again I am alone in the mist of the night.
