The Blindfold

"Liar! You've always been a liar!"
The words you screamed out at me
through those tears.
"You'll never change, never!"
The words I know you believe.

But, the truth is, I have changed.
I am someone different now.
Though, you're just to blinded by hate to see it.

There is a saying, 'Though a tiger's stripes may not change, the heart of the animal can.' **
Is this not true for humans, too?
I am a new man, different then the one you
last knew.

I see now, the things for how they are, were, and have always been.

I've realized that life is too short to go after
things that you truly do not want, just because
it's something you know you can obtain.

I've realized that the true meaning of being
human and to live is that once you are born
you are thrown into pain.

And that no one can protect you from it,
though you must learn from it to know the outcome
of similar things, and to not make those same mistakes.

I know now what I want, and I hope one day
you may see it. That you see I have indeed changed, and that I am truly, deeply, and heartfelt with guilt for what I did.

I hope you know.. just how sorry I really am.

And there isn't a doubt in my mind, that once
you remove that hateful blindfold, you'll see it, too. And then.. you may move on and find that peace and love you sought in me..

I'm sorry..

~I know it's not really a poem as it is a story, but the message I was trying to send is there. Isn't that what truly matters in poems?~
