Crippling Embrace

Take my heart and hold it in your hand
Hold it so tight that it turns to sand
If I look for you, turn away my head
Turn my feelings to black instead of red
Kiss me until I have run out of breath
Physical departure, romantic death
When I sleep, don't let me have sweet dreams
Because they're only sweet when they're of you and me
I'd rather be scared and have nightmares
As long as I search my mind and you're not there
But first, relax my mind and soothe my heart
Hold me so tight no one could pull us apart
Then whisper in my ear a soft good-bye
Ignore my tears as I start to cry
Slowly pull away from my strong embrace
Let me become weak as you leave without a trace
I close my eyes and collapse to the ground
I say, "Don't come back," and I don't hear a sound
Just when I think I've had too much
I realize that I don't need a crutch
I open my eyes and stand up by myself
And never again will I need you for help
