A whimsical tribute to Isaac Asimov

Said Isaac to all who gave ear:
A B.E.M. told me once over beer,
Whenever you speak, purple passages streak,
As mauve has the wavelength I hear.

(Mr. Asimov delighted in puns and limericks. One of my most treasured possessions is a humorous rejection slip from the good Doctor. The key to the limerick is that the term "purple passage" is defined as exceptional "royal" prose.)
