Lighthouse Lament

I stand guard at my post on the shore
And overlook the sea and more.
My light tells all not to go astray,
When rocks and dangers are in their way.

Time nor weather can change my watch,
As nightly my light does spot,
And tells all that I am here,
And for their safety not to venture near.

Now time is passing and I am forlorn,
Other means develop and ideas born.
No longer does a hand control my light,
No longer does love split the night.

But until that dark and dreary day,
When I am replaced or put away,
I stand guard at my post on the shore,
And overlook the sea and more.
