Inside Of Me
They can knock me down or spit in my face,
Make jokes that I’m a disgrace.
They can call me names behind my back,
But there is no truth to any of that.
My head may hang low so they do not see,
The fear or pain inside of me.
The fear and pain inside of me,
Is tucked down deep so they cannot see
The reason I hide or run away,
Or cry because I lived another day.
You see the frown upon my face,
You don’t disperse and give me space,
You come sit by my side,
Smile and say let the Lord be your guide.
I begin to cry and hold you tight,
You just sigh and say it will be alright.
